  • Best Irish-Published Book of the Year Award (Nov 2020)

    For the book "Old Ireland in Colour", co-authored with Dr Sarah-Anne Buckley and published by Merrion Press, we won TheJournal.ie Best Irish-Published Book of the Year Award. This award was set up to reward the excellence of native publishing, and submitted titles must therefore emanate from an Irish-based publishing house, including the Dublin offices of the major UK publishing houses.

  • President's Award (Business Person of The Year) (Dec 2019)

    The Presidentโ€™s Award, sponsored by PwC, is given to an individual who has made a contribution to the business life of Galway that is outstanding in every way. Dave Hickey, President of Galway Chamber said, โ€œJohn Breslin has played a major role in the success of Galwayโ€™s entrepreneurial ecosystem through his work at NUI Galway as well as his contribution to founding PorterShed, as a director of WestBIC and many, many other projects he has started or participated in. Through his work in NUI Galwayโ€™s โ€˜Innovateโ€™ programmes, John has helped hundreds of entrepreneurs to acquire skills they would otherwise take years to acquire.โ€

    This ITAG excellence award is conferred on an individual (or organisation) that has made a measurable, sustained and lasting contribution to the development of Galway / West of Ireland region as an IT / software hub of international renown.

  • Finalist, Research2Business Award (May 2014)

    I was one of four shortlisted nominees for the inaugural KTI (Knowledge Transfer Ireland) Research2Business award in 2014. The shortlist was drawn from 16 nominations.

    The KTI Research2Business award celebrates excellence in engagement between researchers and the business community. For example, through collaborative research, contracted services and consultancy. The award recognises the researcher whose interactions have delivered exceptional impact for businesses and had a beneficial effect for their host institution.
